Berry St. Alliance (BSA) unifies local Brooklyn block associations, businesses and residents from Williamsburg and Greenpoint. We are a community-based organization that grew out of a need to represent ourselves and directly communicate with city agencies, local politicians and Brooklyn Community Board 1.

We are a grassroots collective of neighbors and businesses that value evolving communities.

We are concerned about safety, equality, civil rights of our disabled and senior neighbors, the privatizing of public space by nefarious private interests, lobbyist and big developers given more power and privilege about the design and function of our neighborhood than residents.

We advocate for quality of life, preserving and nurturing the environment.

We are not affiliated with ANY political clubs, private interests or lobbyists

**that's what makes us unique and special in North Brooklyn**

#FREEBERRYST

During the pandemic, an executive order issued to provide outdoor space for people to safely socialize was supposed to be community led & temporary. Then in 2021, NYC Council expedited legislation in the shadows of the pandemic making Open Streets permanent. At the time, people were sick, dying and usual business was suspended.

No Northside BID

Business Improvement Districts (BID) are formed to collect property taxes quarterly directly through the department of finance. Therefore, their presence increases rent for residents and businesses. They disingenuously claim to provide services the city is already providing.

BIDS are anti-democratic and anti-community.

NYC Access for All

Disabled neighbors are excluded from the design of Berry St. #openstreet "Bike Boulevard" by the DOT, local politicians captured by Transportation Alternatives and DOT third party partners North Brooklyn Parks Alliance and North Brooklyn Open Streets Community Coalition.

NYS Emily Gallagher says disabilities are not a state issue!

NYC Access for All is the non-profit advocating for civil rights protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and NYS Humanitarian Laws.

Lawsuit filed by 12 petitioners, 3 from our district, in federal court suing NYC and DOT partners for ADA Violations is accessible via link to NYCAA website below.

NYC E-Vehicle Safey Alliance

With the increase in bike lanes and shared pedestrian-bike spaces, we have seen an increase in deaths and injuries from e-vehicles city wide.

E-Citibike riders are out of control in our district. They run redlights, stop in cross-walks, speed over 25 mph, go both directions and do not yeild to pedestrians.

NYC EVSA advocates for Pricilla's Law in Albany

and the licensing, regulation and enforcement of e-vehicles. Pricilla was killed in cross-walk by a citibike driver who ran a red light. The driver was only issued a traffic summons. She was planning to retire as a Pre-K teacher in a couple of years before she was senselessly killed.

CUE-UP

Coalition United for Equitable Urban Policy (CUE-UP) is about representing the residents and other businesses in the "Outdoor Dining Program" that is designed by and for the NYC Hospitably Alliance whose sole purpose is to maximize profits of restaurants and bars. â€‹

The DOT has not been proactive in enforcing rules or facilitating public participation during the new application process. We want our sidewalks back, our intersections visible, quality of life restored and trees to breathe with light and air.

The Movement to
Protect The People

"Keep your towers off our flowers"

Providing activism and education in a borough that is being sold-out by the very politicians that claim to represent Brooklyn. This organization of CB9 residents are the only group to successfully stop a harmful district wide rezoning.

MTOPP recently sued Borough President Antonio Reynoso for not following the law by disclosing information on who he appointed to Community Boards per a FOIA request.  Read about the lawsuit and how Antonio thinks he is above the law at MTOPP website.
